Maltese photographer Kurt Arrigo spent his childhood at the water’s edge. A life long bond between Kurt and all things aquatic began at an early age. Growing up on a Mediterranean island meant that childhood summers were spent scuba diving; then, in his youth, Kurt discovered the thrill of sailing. When he picked up a camera it was a natural progression to photograph his passions; the mystery of the underwater world and adventure on the high seas.
Kurt has travelled extensively around the globe shooting underwater wild life; from swimming with hammerhead sharks in the Galapagos Islands, capturing rich marine life on the Great Barrier Reef to trekking in the Himalayas. Kurt has achieved excellence in the realm of sailing photography. As an experienced scuba diver, Kurt developed a unique way to photograph sailing events from sea level by jumping into the sea to capture that shot. Hard work and perseverance led him to photograph most of the Major International Yatching races.
Kurt’s has published two coffee table books. His work has appeared on various books, covers as well as other publications such as The Financial Times weekend, Boat International, Yachting World, Communication Arts, Yacht Capital, Sea Horse International. He has worked with several advertising campaigns including Rolex, Perini Navi, Nautor SWAN, Oyster, Bacardi, Starwood, Cevron, Gaastra Sportswear and HSBC. Kurt has also worked as a still photographer in the movie industry shooting movies stars such as Sharon Stone, Rupert Everett and Rufus Seawell. His talents have taken him to the skis slopes of Kitzbuhel to photograph the Hannenkham and Ski World Cup finals in Switzerland.
Kurt’s commitment to his work is portrayed in his positive attitude and easy going personality. He strives to meet new boundaries and push his artistic limits, constantly searching for a fresh outlook to his subjects.
